Tsutskhvati Cave, located in the village of Tsutskhvati in the Tkibuli Municipality, lies at an altitude of 250–400 meters above sea level. The cave complex, formed by the Shabataghele's River flowing through the Tsutskhvati Karst, spans an area of 6–7 hectares and consists of 13 levels. Renowned for its age and unique structure, Tsutskhvati Cave is unparalleled worldwide. Locals refer to it as “the mine” due to its expansive and multi-level formations. The cave features springs, a small lake, and delicate calcite formations across its various levels. Archaeological discoveries within the cave include artifacts dating from the Middle Paleolithic to the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages. Of particular significance are traces of Neanderthal habitation, alongside Upper Paleolithic (80,000–12,000 years ago) layers associated with Homo sapiens.
